A professional cast take you on a journey of absurdist monologues that you will enjoy more with every sip that you take. The show combines a music hall style with some modern spin (Portugal) as the mischievous Absinthe fairy takes a grip over the cast and sweeps them off on a self indulgent satirical trip making fun of pedo's, the army, children's TV, contemporary literature and dead babies. Also including some educational chat on Absinthe with special reference to LaFee, which most of the middle class audience seemed wary to try. The show contains some good writing, variable delivery and is generally dark and satirical. John Fricker the 'Cad' in the Fez has an especially cherubic countenance that contrasts with his depraved monologues quite well. You will either laugh at the material or some may pass right over your head but it contains enough accessible sick and scatological material to keep everyone interested and some dramatic twists to boot. Good value as the cost of entry is equivalent to the cost of the generous free shot of Absinthe in most Edinburgh bars. Judging by the slumped bodies by the end of the show it is certainly powerful stuff! An unusual but fast and fun Fringe experience. by John Vassallo
