Title: The Circus of Horrors - Urban Circus Ltd

07 08 07 - Hard to believe that the 'Circus of Horrors' is in its 
13th year of schlock, gory, nightmare entertainment. However tonight
promised their new 'Evilution' show featuring a mix of burlesque, 
freak show and dazzling acrobatics to their trademark rock horror 
pastiche big top presentation. The suspense started right from the
moment that the crowds filed in to take their seats, having to
negotiate their way past predatory vampires and other crazed 
cast members. Once seated its very much a case of hold tight 
for a fast paced, non stop series of acts selected for their 'shock'
and 'wow' factors, not to mention appallingly bad taste comedy 
routines. With Dr Haze as Ringmaster and cheesy rock vocal 
accompaniment for the night, the show is visually rich in terms 
of alternative theatre costumes, pyrotechnics and special effects.
Visual clichés provide the continuity to the acts as e.g., The Bride
of Frankenstein does the sword walk, sharp edges up. There is a fab
contortionist, the amazing rubberman Garry Stretch, foul mouthed
dwarf Demon Dan; astonishing hooked suspension from Hanible and 
some stunning silk, aerial work that stole the show, for me anyways.
This production is a classic of its genre, don't let the tongue in
cheek cheesiness of the presentation stop you from enjoying acts 
that would put 'Laclique' to shame. Its funny, outrageous, gross 
in parts and all the acts are thoroughly entertaining.
