This was achieved in a difficult space at Zoo Southside, essentially a chamber with two doors either side of the set. These were put to good use with a constant flow of dramatic entrances, exits and dark laughs if you can imagine Dracula as a US inspired parody! Featuring, a very well spoken and plausible Renfield not only countering any hints of American accents but also darker and more lucid than the bug eating film version. With a Doctor who acts inappropriately with Mina and Lucy at every opportunity, as well as constant dark sexual undertones, the show mixed dark humour and comic relief into the narrative wonderfully! In this humorous representation of the dreams, hopes and ambitions of typical Vampires, Van Helsing emerged as somewhat of a spoilsport. A well attended show making good use of a strobe at the essential vampiric feeding moments it contained unusual twists and character transformations entirely absent from the original. Ending on a female Vampires 'right to choose' and the word 'f**k' in the best received pronunciation you will have heard in a while, great fun! by John Vassallo
