Was once the main Edinburgh goth and alternative pub and pre-club hang out. Still enjoys pre-club pubbers for the Bongo club nearbye. Bookable function room with stage doubling as a Fringe venue. Spacious and preferred watering hole over the years of many Edinburgh University and other whacky and wackier societies including Beltanites, covens, stand up comedians, linux fans and literary groups. Landlord Mark is sometimes seen in fishnets, leopard heels, kilt etc, and the pub has much the same clientele as the one above! Sometimes problems with neds from the two hostels nearbye but the pub was well policed by former publican Mark and his staff. The fringe venue is managed by Rare Birds Entertainment.

Safe for salsa loving ladies and their girlfriends. Best place to be on otherwise dead Edinburgh Monday nights for the longstanding latino pub night; with excellent Mojito's and also San Miguels both on promotion. Latin cocktails, usual wines and spirits, bottled cervezas but no draught. Some latin and international goth clientele liking salsa music have been spotted here! Generally ned free with a strict door policy.
